Our Story

I grew up in the south of Sweden, in a family spread across Europe. That feeling of belonging to more than one place, of packing light but dressing right, has been with me my whole life.

When I first moved to London in my twenties, it was the biggest thing I'd ever done. No smartphone, no Google Maps, no feed to scroll for reassurance. Just a city that felt enormous and electric and completely overwhelming. Honestly? It terrified me. After a year I left for Madrid, which turned out to be exactly what I needed.

I came back to London in 2017, older and with a lot more behind me. That time, I fell for it properly. And it was also when I started thinking seriously about Steén, about what I actually wanted to wear across all the places my life kept taking me. The grey Monday mornings, the impromptu dinners, the weekend escapes somewhere with a bit of countryside.

That's still what I'm trying to solve. Not a capsule wardrobe concept. Not a sustainability manifesto. Just pieces that actually travel between cities, between occasions, between the life you're living right now and the one you're heading towards.

The Madrid trousers were the first thing I made that really nailed it. Something you could wear curled up at home on a Tuesday and then out to dinner on a Friday without changing who you are. That's the test every Steén piece has to pass.

I won't pretend I only wear Steén. I shop second-hand, I have high street pieces I love, and I don't think dressing well requires a perfect wardrobe. But Steén pieces are the ones I keep coming back to, the anchors that make everything else work a little better.
