Materials
The Collection
The Steén collection contain materials that we believe are good both for you and for the planet - sustainable Tencel™ lyocell, baby alpaca, Cashwool®, organic cotton and natural rubber. Each material is traceable from the fibre and throughout the whole production chain.
Tencel™ Lyocell
TENCEL™ lyocell is a fibre made from the cellulose produced by environmentally responsible processes from the sustainably sourced natural raw material wood. This is a renewable material made from natural resources requiring little or no irrigation or pesticides and it's produced in an environmental responsible closed loop production process.
TENCEL™ lyocell fabric 'breathes' and is pleasant to wear in both winter and summer. Tencel fabric absorbs water better than cotton, yet dries faster. Tencel fabric shrinks and creases less than cotton.
Baby Alpaca
Cashwool ®
Organic Cotton
Organic cotton is grown without the use of synthetic pesticides and fertilisers and it's not genetically modified. Organic cotton uses 62% less energy and 91% less water on average, compared with conventional cotton.
Natural Rubber
We use natural rubber in our elastic waistbands. Natural rubber is a renewable and recyclable material that requires little energy and few chemicals to produce. Our rubber comes from plantations in Malaysia where no child labour is being used.
Our Packaging & Labels
The woven fabric labels inside our clothes are made from 100% recycled rPET and the paper swing tags contain recycled paper created from takeaway coffee cups. The thank you note is made from recycled paper and using vegan ink. The inner layer of packaging is home compostable and the outer mailers and stickers that our products are packaged in are are all made to be recycled.
