Mika - Clerkenwell, London

Mika - Clerkenwell, London

We had a magical last week of summer in London at the beginning of October and we met up with Mika and spent a sunny and warm afternoon with her in her neighbourhood Clerkenwell. She also showed us her beautiful and stylish guardian ship flat in an old pub.

Mika is an an architect and yogi from London, with heritage from Cyprus and Japan. She studied at the Bartlett and was lucky enough to be able to work further afield in places such as Switzerland and Japan as an intern, and has since been based in London. She enjoys the playful, explorative and unpredictable aspects of designing and challenge of trusting the process to lead you somewhere interesting.

Mika discovered yoga about 10 years ago and has found it to be a precious practice that is both joyful and challenging and has helped to manage various life pressures. It has become a valuable tool for her to unlock the potential within both mind and body, and has led her into other somatic and spiritual practices such as hand balancing and meditation.

Mika is wearing the Madrid trousers in silky black and the Stockholm jumper in charcoal grey. All Steén products are designer in London, the Madrid trousers are made in a small sustainable factory in London and the Stockholm jumper is knitted in a small family owned factory in Spain. The flat is filled with plants and beautiful vintage pieces that Mika has found around London and on her travels.

The flat is the old pub office.

The top floor flat has large ceiling windows which let in lots of natural light.

Music is a big part of Mika's life and she produces her own electronic music remixes.

Trying out the Madrid trousers for some handstands.

This cute french place called the Tabac café at Exmouth market is one of Mika's go to's.
